Our Story
Love started it all.
Pro Love began in July 2020 from a simple whisper in the heart of our founder, Melissa.
Having lived in Manurewa all her life, Melissa could see the struggles families were facing, particularly mothers expecting babies and families with young children. She saw gaps in support and felt there was a need for something more.
So, together with her five daughters, Melissa started Pro Love from her lounge room.
What began with a heart to help one family has grown into a nationwide movement of love, practical support and hope.
Meet our Founder
Melissa is Māori and European, a wife, mother of eight and grandmother to 3. She has more than 10 years of experience in children’s ministry and leadership and brings a wealth of life experience, compassion and understanding to Pro Love.
Melissa has also experienced hardship in her own life and understands what it means to struggle. Her journey has shaped her passion for helping others find hope, strength and a better way forward.
She has a deep love for people, babies, families and her community, as well as a passion for health and wellbeing.

We want people to genuinely experience that they are cared for through practical support, encouragement, connection, advocacy, safe spaces and simply being there when they need someone.

Our work is about supporting people today while investing in the wellbeing of future generations.
A growing ripple of love
Since those early days in 2020, Pro Love has grown through the generosity of volunteers, supporters, community organisations and people who believe in what we do.
Our volunteers and supporters help us reach families across Aotearoa, and our vision continues to grow — suburb by suburb, city by city.
We dream of creating a ripple effect of aroha that reaches communities throughout New Zealand and, one day, beyond.
